* All fee-based appraisal work shall be discussed and agreed to with prospect clients before any work is performed, or any charges incurred.
* All Written Appraisals require direct, physical examination of item(s). Appraisal fee and schedule are dependent on the number and complexity of the items to be researched. For example, for a large group of instruments of mixed quality, an hourly rate is appropriate. For a single instrument, a per item rate is often advisable. However, the final determination as to which schedule is most appropriate will be made upon initial examination and prior to the actual appraisal process.
* Insurance Appraisals can conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP) but are primarily tailored around the needs and desires of the insurance company requiring the document.
* Appraisals for Tax Purposes are specialized documents that are required for their specific purpose by the Internal Revenue Service and are compliant with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practiced (USPAP). In fact, the IRS will not accept any such document that is not prepared in a USPAP-compliant manner by an appraiser who has USPAP certification.
